First meeting 18 November 2005
Eight founding members came together after church. The society band was inaugurated on 29 March 2008 with twenty-one members.
Established 18 November 2019
The society band was established through the work of the circuit’s leadership and continued under its first officers.
The Petroleum Methodist Society Christ’s Little Band was established on 18th November, 2019 by the then Akweteyman Circuit Past President Opanyin Comfort Oppong and Secretary Sister Diana Senoo.
The Officers have continued to serve the Society diligently since its inception.
Christ’s Little Band started on 18th November, 2005. When Sister Emelia Dickson organized the first Christ’s Little Band (CLB) Meeting at Pentecostal School, (former worshipping premises) of Mizpah), after Church service. Sisters Constance Amo, Dorothy Donkor, Brenda Brefo, Stella Danny, Joyce Adi, Patricia Bondzie, Emelia Dickson and Brother Frank Kisi, formed the first membership of the Organization. Meetings were subsequently held on Sundays after Church service to educate new members on the history and background of the Organization amnd what it stood for in the Methodist Church Gnana.
Attendance was regular and this culminated into an increased membership. On 29th March, 2008, the MIZPAH CLB was inaugurated and Officers were inducted at Ebenezer Society with a membership of Twenty - one (21) committed members by the then Superintendent Minister, Very Rev. Kofi Kankam.
The Executives worked tirelessly around oneness among members.
Programmes and activities were adhered toand well attended at the Circuit, Diocesan and Connexional level.
Our journey like any other has not been without setbacks, it has been bitter and sweet along the way but, through it all, our motto “UNITED WE STAND!! DIVIDED WE FALL!!!” has kept us through.
The Christ’s Little Band is a recognized Organisation within the Methodist Church Ghana. The aims of which are to deepen Christian faith of its members, to help them to witness to Christ in their daily lives and by the preaching of the Gospel and to show practical benevolence to members and others in times of sickness and bereavement.
The Ebenezer Society Christ’s Little Band – Akweteyman initially began with few dedicated members under the leadership of the late Opanyin Samuel Kwasi Asiamah in his residence.
Opanyin Samuel Kwasi Asiamah was then the Accra Diocesan President of the Band between 1979 to 1983 decided to establish Christ’s Little Band at Ebenezer Society. This good nes was wholeheartedly welcomed by the leadership of the Society which was then under the Kpehe Circuit.
In the light of the above, the Leaders Meeting appointed the following Brethen to help to nurture and train some interested members of the Church to form the Organisation. They were; the late Sister Comfort Kow, Brother Ofori Appiah, Sister Mercy Abraham , Brother Appiah Kubi and others.
The Ebenezer Methodist Church Akweteyman Christ’s Little Band was officially inaugurated by Officers from the Kpehe Circuit on May 21st, 1995 with thirty (30) members excluding Juveniles. The under-mentioned Executives were appointed as the first Officers to see to the day to day running of the affairs of the Organisation.
The Executives were inaugurated into Office by Very Rev. John Hammond, the then Superintendent Minister of Kpehe Circuit.
